Routine

118-130 Horizontal
Combination

Grapevine Diagonal to the front of the bench, facing the right
wall (8)
A step x 2 (8)
Turnstep x 1, hop turn x 1 (8)
Repeat left lead.
Tip: How would you teach the grapevine diagonal?
Initially place the class in a grapevine
pattern with step touches on the floor. Ask the class to watch
you and as they perform the movement behind the bench (in place),
you would move to the front diagonally, tap up tap down x 2 (same
as the step touches on the floor). Then do the same moves to the
back where you started from, but perform the step touch on the
floor, you should fit in easily with the class. Repeat this method
a few times, to allow the class to see what you are doing. Be
aggressive in your teaching skills. Teaching the class to use
different types of orientations is a great way to increase their
intensity level and agility. This also increases confidence.

| Do's
& Don'ts
-Do use some form
of monitoring heart rate while in class. If your class
can talk to you (more than a few words), they are exercising
at the appropriate intensity. This is referred to as the
talk test.
-Try playing music
prior to class starting…set the mood.
-Don't teach at
one level; remember you will usually have all fitness
levels in class unless it is a specialty class, e.g.,
Choreographed Step.
-Don't forget to
smile.

Are
we having fun yet?
If you are
introducing a new move and it may have some tricky spots,
show the class prior to class, the tricky movement. This
will help alleviate some of the stops that we encounter
when introducing new moves.
