This area is specifically for the novice instructor. You'll find 5 easy to remember combinations, which will assist you. The combinations will not include arms. Emphasis should be placed on feet first.
Beginner Tip:
If you are teaching a combo that is not going well, you know this because you are paying attention to the class and all are not following you, or some maybe marching and watching. Tell your class to relax and begin from the top of the routine to bring the class back to something familiar. Try not to exclude the combination altogether. If the class is not following at all and is just having problems grasping the moves, move onto something else. Why did this happen? We will always have some rough edges when presenting new moves to our classes. As an instructor continue to practice the moves a little more before presenting the combo in class. The more CONFIDENT you are in knowing your choreography, the easier it will be for your class to follow you. As you are assessing the class, you may need to use more than one way of cueing to have everyone catch the move.

Assess yourself...you will grow

Always begin marching on the right foot; this is your lead leg.
Beginners may be more successful using linear progression. This is where you take a straight-line approach to choreography. Patterns are not combined into repeated routines. These type routines are simple and easy to follow.

Repeat for better performance.

Repeat your combinations over and over again through the routine. Each time you do this your class performs the movement better. Through your careful instruction, tell the class why you are doing this. Include safety cues, alignment cues, and technique cues. Your class will perform better, therefore getting more out of the class! For intensity and mastery teach 4-6 times!
