Instructor Tip

Another element of variation is the use of accents. Accents give a different feel to a move or pattern. An accent can be a snap or clap, jump or hop or patting the hips or thighs. I’ve found in some instances when using accents, it helps the class to remember a particular pattern or move, because the accent is there. Use single, double or triples claps, double hops, etc., to spark up your classes. They are a lot of fun. So the next time you design a routine, try the use of accents. An example of the use of an accent is: walk forward/backward, single clap on count 2, double clap on count 4.
